Unlike electric beds, it uses a mechanical hand-crank system located at the foot of the bed to adjust the patient's position. It is highly durable and reliable because it does not depend on electricity, making it ideal for areas with unstable power or for long-term home recovery.

- Backrest Elevation: Manually raise or lower the head section (typically 0–75°) to help the patient sit up for eating, reading, or easier breathing.
- Knee/Leg Elevation: Adjust the leg section (typically 0–40°) to improve blood circulation and prevent the patient from sliding down.
